The award-winning Enabling Village (EV), an adaptive reuse of a vocational institute built in the 1970s, has since transformed into an all-accessible inclusive space. It features universal design, fosters social and tech innovations, and enables disability-inclusive training and employment. A sensory-friendly place for persons with disabilities and an inviting sanctuary for neighbouring residents, shows what a caring and inclusive society can be.

Interesting first time to EV!
It was my first time enabling village (ev) and I learn a lot about EV and how design and much thought has been put in to make the environment inclusive. Our guide Bas brought us to the various zones in the village, and explained with details the purpose of each zone and how they were built. There are mini challenges throughout the tour, which I find it fun and engaging as it makes the entire tour more experiential. Highly recommend for all to see another side of Singapore that you wouldn't know.

Building a caring society
My biggest takeaway from the enabling village tour is how we often overlook inclusivity and accessibility, especially for people with disabilities. Mark, our tour guide shared how they face individual daily challenges and EV has some of these solutions to these challenges that hopefully can be implemented in many other places. Very insightful and meaningful visit. Will recommend teachers and students to visit as well.

Truly an inclusive & universal design!
I was blown away by how accessible and functional Enabling village is for public members and people with disabilities. The tour opens us to the village's universal design and the different services the village have to ensure everyone in society is included such as providing employment opportunities to people with disabilities. We manage to tour different areas such as inclusive playground & gym, tech-able, art bar and even ntuc fairprice that was built a little differently. The entire village is also full of greenery. A fulfilling tour into this beautifully crafted village!
