Magnificent Chinatown free walking tour
I knew about this walking tour since last year, but I couldn't join until today. The walking tour started on time at 9.30 AM. The guide, Bas is excellent. He tells everything about Chinatown and Singapore. Even about government policies. Next time if I visit SG again I'll join the other route of walking tour.
At the end of the trip, you also can give a tip for the guide. How much? It's all up to you, as much as you appreciate about the tour and the guide. You should try to join, especially for you who are a regular walking tour member. I joined another walking tour in different countries before, and this is excellent.

Perfect introduction if you are new to Singapore
We were staying in Singapore for only 4 days and wanted to learn as much as we could in that time. As with most places we visit, we did a google search for free walking tours and Monster Day Tours was the first thing to pop up.
We attended both the Chinatown tour and Little India tour with Bas on the Sunday and we could not have asked for a better guide! He was very knowledgable about the area and with answering any questions people had and had the perfect energy for managing a group of 15+ people keeping everyone engaged at all times!
The tour itself follows the same format as many of the free walking tours you find in Europe but Bas went above and beyond giving food/sight recommendations and even buying local snacks for everyone in the group to try. If you’re new to Singapore, these tours are a must!

Walking tour in Chinatown - Fantastic
We had a fantastic tour guide Bas who explained the history of Singapore and of the Chinese migration to Singapore in the 1800’s. He also explained the cultural, social and political aspects of Singapore in its early nation-building years. We visited Hindu and Buddhist temples in Chinatown and also the food court, traditional shops, interesting buildings and fascinating streets in this area. A negative observation is the measly tips that some people gave the guide, like S$1-S$2! It’s an insult to professional guides who spent 2.5hrs with the group and even bought some local food for us to sample. Guides like Bas depend on tips for their living, and people should check out the Monster Day Free Walking Tour website for the suggested tips. Surely, these tourists would never give US$1, £1 or 1€ as tip to guides in their home countries.

Walking tours in Singapore
We did the Chinatown walking tour with Colin, and the Kampong Glam and Little India walking tours with Bas, and we highly recommend it! Both are well-equipped and bring personal stories in their tour-guiding. Even though we've been to these districts before, thanks to Colin and Bas we found new ways to navigate through these areas that we didn't knew before. Special shout out to Bas for the extra info after the Little India tour, and the Happy Birthday singing on my birthday during the Kampong Glam tour! *(^_^)*

Three free walking tours in Little India, Chinatown and Kampong Glam
If you want to understand life in Singapore, this is the tour for you. This isn't only a guided tour of buildings. This is a tour of history and the way that this has shaped the way people in Singapore live together. Bus, our guide, explained social housing, work to make the city a greener environment and how everyone respects each others cultural traditions. Plus... there's food. Not only a view of life here, but a taste of life here. Do at least one of the tours. You won't regret it.

New local discoveries with friendly tour guide!
Did a Forefathers Chinatown Tour with my family last week. Angel, our tour guide, shared many interesting historical facts of Chinatown which I have not previously known. The wall murals by Yip Yew Chong are beautiful as they reflect scenes from the past. Angel was also patient and attentive as my kids took turns to fuss and we had to take a few pit stops. It's a fresh experience being a tourist in my own country, and a wonderful time chatting with Angel too! I look forward to attend the other tours in the near future!
